Having recently had my weekly budget decimated by moving to uni Waterstones is no longer in my price range. I just can’t justify spending £8 on a single book anymore. Especially when I know that that one book could buy me; two tesco meal deals, a mini bottle of smirnoff vodka or a 20 box of McDonalds nuggets.
With that knowledge burdening my mind I went to TheWorks instead and Oh. My. God. If you had told me a week ago that I could get four new books for the low, low price of £7.50 there is no way that I would have believed you.
The Works have an amazing offer in which a selection of books are three for £6. That is honestly show-stopping. Whilst scouring the shelves I also found a book that had been reduced from £9.99 to £1.50. The books I bought were:
The Florist - C.L.Patterson
Better Hate Than Never - Chloe Liese
The Babysitter - Emma Curtis
The Problem with Perfect - William Stover
I have to be honest, I was skeptical. I thought maybe there was a reason that these books were so wildly reduced in price. I was wrong to doubt and like they say you should never judge a book by its cover.
I went home and started The Babysitter first. I finished it in a singular day. It was incredible and if you would like to read my review (with no spoilers) you can check it out on Goodreads.
I was unable to link my specific review so I have inserted a screenshot here. The link should take you directly to my account where you can follow me, see my reviews and check my progress with my 2024 reading challenge.
If you are like me and want to devour a book in a day but don’t want to blow your budget on your next reads, have a look in TheWorks. The deals left me feeling highly satisfied and I’ve met my craving for a new read without having to worry about whether I can buy food next week.

What amazing advice - need to buy some books now
