More about me
This page is a nod to my personal growth as a journalist and what I feel is important to know about me as a person.
All about me:
I'm writing this one day after graduating and it all still doesn't feel very real. When I found out I got a 2:1 I cried and begged my Mum not to tell anyone. I've always been hard on myself and I really struggled to feel any pride in my work.
However after walking the stage yesterday, wearing the gown and balancing that hat on my head I finally see how far I have come.
In the past three years I have not just achieved my degree and NCTJ accreditation but I have found myself, found friends and found a support system for life.
I've found a love for Portsmouth and its community which has led me to stay here in my first grownup flat with my girlfriend Elle.
I am excited to have more time for personal reading and not just my recommended academic reading. I particularly enjoy Japanese literature and the works of Uketsu. I love Star Wars and have Grogu merch all over my flat - including a toastie maker. I like collecting silly trinkets that remind me of the people and places I love. I am a curious and nerdy person outside of my studies and my degree has taught me to love and nurture this part of myself even more.
So, no, I didn't get a first. I got so much more than that. This website is a testament to how I've grown and how my writing has matured and improved. It's something I have come back to and edited many times across my course and something I hope will stick with me throughout my working life.
I'm very grateful and proud to be where I am today.
